Ann O’Brien Schmieg Appointed New CEO of Montgomery Early Learning Centers.
Montgomery Early Learning Centers (MELC) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Ann O’Brien Schmieg as their new CEO. She will assume responsibilities on January 14, 2014 and will succeed longtime CEO Fred Citron, who retired in November of 2012.
A group of undergraduate Penn students with majoring in health related fields came to our center on December 11th. They set up a mock hospital for our preschoolers. All of the children brought in their sick and injured stuffed animals or dolls from home.
MELC is pleased to announce that a grant was received from the Demetrius S. and Nadia E. Saris Memorial Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation. This grant enables us to provide tuition assistance to a MELC family. We thank the Philadelphia Foundation for their assistance in making our quality care and education accessible to all families!
As you have all seen in the press and on TV, there is concern that beginning this fall, there could be a significant outbreak of the novel H1N1 Flu known as the Swine Flu.
In celebration of the Week of the Young Child (April 20-24), Dr. Janet Samuels, the superintendent of Norristown School District, will be reading to the children of Montgomery Early Learning Centers on Thursday, April 23rd at 11am. In addition, a representative from the office of Senator Daylin Leach, 17th District (D – Montgomery/Delaware), will be on hand to read.
