Three MELC Locations Receive Reaccreditation from Council on Accreditation

Belmont Hills, Plymouth and Jenkintown Recognized for Excellence

Montgomery Early Learning Center (MELC) is pleased to recognize the recent reaccreditation of three of its sites by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for Child and Youth Development (CYD) Programs.

COA is the national accreditor of after school programs in the United States and on U.S. military installations worldwide. In addition, COA offers program accreditation for early childhood education programs and youth development (teen) programs.

Belmont Hills Elementary School, Plymouth Elementary School and Jenkintown Elementary School have all been reaccredited as a result of the leadership of Theresa Synder and Lisa Reinhart, MELC Program Directors. On-site Program Directors who are responsible for daily operations at each site are also to be commended for their dedication and service to students and parents:

  • Robyn Jardine, Director, Lower Merion School Based Programs – Belmont Hills Elementary School
  • Gina Pileggi, Director, Colonial School Based Programs – Plymouth Elementary School
  • Cheryl Hertneck, Director/Teacher, Jenkintown School Based Programs – Jenkintown Elementary School

Serving as an essential link between the classroom and home, COA offers a unique opportunity to impact the social, emotional, physical, and educational growth of infants, toddlers, children and youth.

“Accreditation demonstrates that your program is recognized as an after school provider that successfully implements high performance standards and, as such, is delivering the highest quality services to all of its children, youth and families,” read the notification from the COA.

According to the COA website, “pursuing CYD accreditation helps programs transform because the process enables stakeholders—staff, children, youth, families, and the communities in which a program is located—to continuously identify and measure their strengths and opportunities. As a result, a program and its stakeholders will achieve the ultimate goal: the improvement of quality programming.”

This accreditation reinforces MELC’s commitment to high quality and excellence in education. Congratulations to our staff and the entire MELC community!
